'The New Generation' is 2010 Reno Air Race Theme
RENO, NV, February 23, 2010 - The National Championship Air Races has announced the race theme for the 2010 event, held at the Reno-Stead Airfield Sept. 15-19, will be “The Next Generation” in recognition of pilots past and present that are making a stamp on the aviation industry. As part of the festivities, race officials also announced the return of fan favorite, the Canadian Snowbirds.
“Air racing has a long and storied history and we are excited to extend our event into a new decade,” said Mike Houghton, president and CEO for the National Championship Air Races. “We felt this year’s theme; “The Next Generation” was not only timely but would help bring awareness to the event’s bright future and shed light on the past ten years of Air Racing history.”

The Canadian Snowbirds will grace the skies in Reno when they return to the Air Races for the September event. The Snowbirds are Canada’s military aerobatics demonstration team and is under the jurisdiction of the Canadian Forces Air Command based in CFB Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. In addition to the Canadian Snowbirds, aerobatic performers Michael Goulian, David Martin, Greg Poe, and Kent Peitsch will wow the crowds with their uninhibited high-speed performances. Kent Peitsch will perform a comedy act in the skies with his extreme maneuvers such as the “dead stick” routine and the infamous RV Top Landing show.
Michael Goulian, a Red Bull Air Race pilot will captivate crowds with his edgy and aggressive aerobatic stunts. And the final individual performer of the week will be David Martin, well known for his ability to tumble his plane with unparalleled style in addition to his gyroscopic maneuvers no others have tried to duplicate.
